This recall involves the President’s Choice® Vintage Popcorn Maker (UPC 058703285682). The product has a 3.5L/15 cup capacity in a red-striped wagon design, with a lid convertible as a serving bowl and a built-in butter warmer/dispenser.
The affected product has an invalid certification mark that can be identified by its cord with a 2-prong plug and a model number PC1502 300/PGT-P01 located on a silver label on the bottom of the unit.
PC Popcorn makers that have a cord with a 3-prong are NOT recalled.
Hazard identified
During the insertion of a non-grounded plug, some outlets may short circuit resulting in a spark, posing a potential shock or fire hazard to consumers.
Neither Health Canada nor Loblaws Companies Ltd has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 700 units of the recalled popcorn makers were sold at Loblaw Companies Ltd banner stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled product was sold from July 2015 to June 2016.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
Consumers should immediately stop using the product that has a 2-prong plug and return the product to any Loblaw banner store for a full refund (including without a receipt).
