Quebec Indoor Rowing Championships:
The Quebec Indoor Rowing Championships will be held at St-Maxime High School in Chomedey on Saturday, February 4th. Come and row a piece -- or cheer on someone else.

The finalized schedule with the names of all participants will be available on Thursday afternoon (February 2). Races will start at 9: 30 a.m. and finish around 3:30 P.M.

NEW! An elementary school rowing program:

Laval Rowing Club has been awarded a $4,000 grant from RCA. It will subsidize a special pilot project the purpose of which is to introduce rowing to elementary school children, 10 to 12 years old.

Two schools, St-Paul and Le Tandem (pavillon Leblanc) will be the first to benefit from the project. Indoor activities will be held during April and May with the first on-water outings scheduled for the month of June.

This is an exciting new initiative!

Camps du Centre de développement de l’excellence de l’AQA
Chloé Émond et Julien Tétreault took part in a cross-country ski camp recently held under the auspices of AQA. Athletes enjoyed ski clinics at le Centre de ski de fond de la Forêt Montmorency. There were also ergometer workouts -- a very full and active weekend.

Julien has been invited to the rowing training camp scheduled for March 9th --17th in the peach state -- Georgia, USA.

Your «Salut» SVP
Anyone trying to use the Molson internet site www.saluelacommunaute.com might have had some problems recently. Attempts to register our "Saluts" were plagued by glitches.

As a result the deadline has been extended. We have until February 17th to get to the magic number -- 225 "Saluts."
Molson suggests that people use the "refresh" function (logo refresh) if they run into trouble. This might help.

It seems that the Molson system works best with hotmail, yahoo or gmail addresses. If you have one of these, please take a couple of minutes and "Salute" Laval R.C. We need two new coach boats before the middle of May and Molson is offering us a way to get them.

Cross-training:
The winter training season is booming along. Take your pick. There's erg training, weights, cross-country skiing, speed skating -- and something new. How about Pilates?

Anne Boily recently gave an interesting Pilates introduction to the club's competitive athletes. Not only did they enjoy it, but they discovered muscles they didn't know they had!
Merci, Anne.

Do us a favour:
Got any empty windshield washer containers? Don't throw them out. Bring them to the club. They can be used as buoys next summer.Reduce, re-use, recycle.
