Lack of organization enabled multiple voting

 More than 200 dedicated young sports enthusiasts from Laval were presented awards medallions and the acknowledgement of their athletic excellence from the city during Laval’s semi-annual Mérite sportif which took place at the Marcellin-Champagnat Theatre at Collège Laval in St-Vincent-de-Paul on Nov. 27.

 Laval city council, which has met on Mondays for as long as anyone can remember, will start holding its monthly public meetings on the first Tuesday evening of each month beginning next year. The change was tabled during city council’s Dec. 1 meeting.

As the only media present throughout the voting process at the Laval Les Iles Liberal nomination vote at The Chateau Royal last Sunday November 23, The Laval News was informed and witnessed many irregularities throughout the voting day.

 Following rumours of polling irregularities, tensions between candidates and police being summoned to quell confrontations, Fayçal El-Khoury prevailed in a vote by Laval-Les Îles

Indigo’s Love of Reading 10th Anniversary was celebrated in September by elementary schools across the country, and Souvenir Elementary School in Chomedey is still celebrating, with a $20,000 windfall of books for their school library.

 Nearly 500 community organization leaders and members of the Laval business community attended a luncheon last Tuesday to mark the official launch of a year of festivities to mark the City of Laval’s 50th anniversary in 2015.
