 While the City of Laval has decided to move ahead with plans for a major overhaul of its economic development agencies regardless of what Quebec does, Liberal Export and Economic Development Minister Jacques Daoust confirmed during a stop in Laval this week that the government is moving ahead with a major review of CLDs and other economic development agencies across the province.

Quebec’s Liberal government is hoping that a 100 per cent electric school bus unveiled in Laval and which is regarded as a first of its kind in North America will sell briskly to transportation companies and school boards and return at least some of the investment Quebec made in its development.

The most recent meeting of Laval city council, which took place on Nov. 3 on the first anniversary of Mayor Marc Demers and his team of councillors’ election victory, gave Demers the opportunity to present a financial picture of the city. “An analysis of the first nine months of 2014 lets us affirm that our budget predictions can be respected,” he said.
