Laval’s Virginie Chénier wins $1,750 bursary for excellence in archery

Bursary from the Hydro Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence.

A Laval archery champion has won a $1,750 bursary from the Hydro Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence. Sixteen-year-old Virginie Chénier won a gold medal at Canadian interior and exterior archery championships this year and at the 40th annual U-15 world championships held in the U.S. last year.
Chénier is a Secondary 5 student at Collège Jean-Eudes in Montreal. The bursaries were presented on Sept. 22 at the Lion d’Or club in Montreal. Chénier was one of 34 athletes to be honoured. Among past bursary recipients are Canadian Olympic figure skating champ Joannie Rochette who received one when she was 15.
