City of Laval internet site publicizes Canada Census jobs

Staff is needed for a variety of supervisory and non-supervisory jobs for the 2011 Census. These jobs are ideal for: students, recently retired persons, stay-at-home parents, and those wanting to supplement their income. The job description offers flexible work hours, competitive wages and work in both rural and urban areas between March and the end of July 2011. Statistics Canada is staffing 35 000 jobs across Canada for the 2011 Census.
The 2011 Census will provide information which is important for future planning. The information gathered will help determine where there is a need for new schools, homes for senior citizens, health and emergency services. The basic hiring requirements include being of legal age 18 years or older, candidates must be Canadian citizen or eligible to work in Canada and must commit to at least 20 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required. In some areas a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required. Also candidates should be computer literate and have access to a home computer with Internet and qualifying persons must pass a written test, interview, reference check, and RCMP security clearance.
Available positions include crew leaders (supervisors) whose primary responsibility is to train, lead and supervise a team of enumerators. Supervisors may also be involved in the recruitment of staff and the pay is $18.04 per hour plus authorized expenses. An enumerator will distribute questionnaires, conduct personal interviews and follow-up by phone. The rate of pay for this position is $14.72 per hour plus authorized expenses.
