Road side security issues on Samson Boulevard

Madame Nicole Paquin sent a petition on behalf of home owners residing on Place des Rapides and Samson Boulevard. In the petition the citizens expressed concern about road safety along a curve in Samson Boulevard that followed the backyards of residences located between 701 and 709 Place des Rapides. They asked the city to take measures to better protect their properties and families from speeding traffic in the area. The matter was turned over to the engineering department’s traffic and transport service for study.
The report concluded that the resident’s complaint was valid and the following recommendations were made. A concrete security barrier measuring 35 meters in length was to be installed along the stretch of road that borders the backyards of the properties in question. Also it was suggested that existing signs warning of a curved road ahead be moved from the intersection of Bord-de-L’Eau and Samson to a more visible position ahead of the curve in both directions. The cost of the proposed safety improvements is $5500 plus tax.
