“For residents, a retirement residence
is their living environment,” said Guy
Ouellette.

Renovation work costing a total of $559,000 will be undertaken at the CHSLD St-Jude, at Manoir St-Patrice and at the Résidence Riviera, all three of which are on the territory of the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Laval. That’s what Chomedey Liberal MNA Guy Ouellette announced recently, on behalf of Social Services Minister Lise Thériault.

Improving quality
“For residents, a retirement residence is their living environment,” said Ouellette. “The investments that we are announcing today will allow for improvements to their quality of life, to improve working conditions for members of the staff, and to make the premises more welcoming for family members and visitors.”
In terms of all Quebec, an overall sum of $35 million is being placed at the disposal of the health and social services network, in order to improve the functionality of the facilities at residences. These sums are being invested as part of a program for minor functional renovations. This program helps to finance renovation work, transformation or replacement to improve quality, accessibility and efficiency of services, or to favour the creation of living areas and care services adapted to the needs of the persons being served.

$800 million eventually
“Since 2003, our government has been consistently taking measures to improve the living conditions of persons in residences,” said Thériault. “With the Quebec infrastructure that we have presented, more than $800 million will be invested in residential centres and for long term care in Quebec. These actions will be matched, among other things, with appreciation visits for the quality of services made available in these centres. What we are aiming for is that our seniors get the best quality services within a secure environment.”
