As we wrote in the last issue, HD TV will be soon the thing of the past. Almost all TV manufacturers exhibited their 3D products at the International Consumers Electronics show 2010 which our newspaper covered from January 5 to January 10. 3D goggles will be as common as your remote control. Imagine based on the visual experience we had, you will be able to catch the puck faster than Price..., see the Convenants from HALO invading your living room, and receive almost a punch from a wrestler at the WWE main event. Bundled with services from different partners your 3D TV will give you more... much more. From seeing the latest Hollywood movie to talking through Skype with your cousins in Florida.

SAMSUNG leading the way
SAMSUNG, the Korean manufacturer is very serious about 3D TV. In fact at CES 2010 it received one of the Best Innovations awards for its 3D Blu-ray player, the first of its kind.
Samsung Electronics America President Tim Baxter introduced DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and Frederic Rose, Technicolor chairman and CEO announcing a partnership. In fact DreamWorks “Monster vs. Aliens will be one of the first Blu-Ray Discs to use the new 3D standard and will be part of a world-wide promotion offering 3D TV buyers a free copy of the movie. Meanwhile Baxter announced that one third of Samsung’s new LED-based LCD TVs will be 3D compatible.  Samsung also announced the launch of an Apps store, a multi-devise application store with content partners including, Blockbuster and others. The apps system will be open to developers to create their own applications for TV and mobile devises.
More closely the Samsung ultra-thin 55 inch 9000 LED LCD TV model series features among others the first onboard TV display touch-screen remote control, 1080P at 240Hz. Samsung also placed all of the set’s circuit boards, including the tuner,, into a detachable pedestal stand that doubles as a wall-mount bracket. The set has an auto-conversion system giving you both native 3D images and 2D images rendered in 3D. But it does not end there. The models feature Ethernet ports and wireless capabilities to access content from partners Blockbuster, YouTube and others. Prices were not revealed at the time pf the press conference.

Panasonic partners with “Avatar”
Cashing on the success of “Avatar” Panasonic presented its 3D TV line up by introducing a partnership with “Avatar” producer Jon Landau. Landau pointed out that he and James Cameron originally began working with Panasonic because they were impressed with the company’s plasma monitors and both men are looking forward to Panasonic delivering new home 3D technologies into living rooms.
On that note Panasonic introduced its VT25 series delivering full resolution 3D effect, which it has called Full HD 3D that delivers 1080P resolution to each eye. The sets have Internet access through Viera Cast Wi-Fi that will enable you to use twitter, Netflix, YouTube and also feature Skype HD video conferencing capability.
On top of all that Panasonic presented an integrated 3D HD camcorder with a double-barrel lens system and its line of 3D Blu-ray players.
During the press conference DirecTV’s executive VP Eric Shanks announced that the satellite provider will have two linear 3D channels and one-video-on-demand channel transmitting sports, movies, and other 3D programming. He added that Fox Sports would be broadcasting this year’s MLB All-Star Game in 3D. Already ESPN and Discovery Networks have announced that this Summer they will have 3D channels. Imagine 3D Hockey Night in Canada...

USB 3.0 already here
You know how important became USB in our techno world. Now get ready for the speeds you will enjoy with USB 3.0. Imagine downloading a movie of 27GB in 60 to 70 seconds, 8GB of photos from your camera in 200 seconds, transferring 16 GB of data to a USB 3 Thumb Drive in 40 seconds. In general terms USB 3.0 is 10 times faster as USB 2.0. On January 5, at the CES 2010 the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) announced 17 consumer products that passed compliance and certification testing for USB 3. Among the first leading manufacturers receiving certification for certain of their product lines were: ASUS, GIGA-BYTE, HP, FUJITSU, WESTERN DIGITAL and Symware. Therefore next time you are planning to purchase a computer or a computer component chose one that has USB 3.0 capabilities.
