The owners of a home on Darveau Street in Chomedey who have a taste for the theatrical used some of it to create one of the spookiest “haunted houses” in Laval last Saturday evening on Halloween. About 20 students from Laval Liberty High School had a hand in playing some of the many horrifying roles depicted in scenes set up in the back yard of the house, which were reminiscent of a wax museum chamber of horrors.
Family effort
Two families, the Tzanetakos and Manikis clans, pooled their talents to create the horrific display. They can’t get enough of Halloween, it seems. Dollar stores, which carry a large inventory of inexpensive Halloween gear this time of year, were also useful. This was the second time they staged a haunted house, although the last one was two years ago.
Spooky moon
Money raised from donations made by those passing through the haunted house are being given to the Montreal Children’s Hospital. A full moon was just coming out last Saturday night after a day of rain and wind, which had left many doubting the kids would be able to have fun. Some of the participants spent the better part of the day out in the rain preparing and got wet, but it was well worth it in the end, they said. A least a month was spent making preparations for the haunted house.
