With the municipal elections scheduled for November 1, mayoral candidate Robert Bordeleau unveiled his new team who will be representing 14 different sectors of the city last Tuesday evening. Le Parti au Service du Citoyen (PSC) de Laval is a municipal political party formed in January 2006 and its main objective is to become Laval’s new administrative team.
“The PSC is the alternative to Mr. Vaillancourt,” stated Bordeleau. “For 22 years, there has been no opposition. Enough is enough. 60% of the voting population don’t go vote because they think Vaillancourt is still there so there’s no point. We want the citizens of Laval to know that we are the alternative.”

Eight objectives
Bordeleau highlighted eight specific objectives him and his team will tackle during the first 80 days in office if elected November 1st. They include adjusting public transport routes and schedules to respond to the needs of users, putting in place a rental board and hiring inspectors to monitor buildings, and offering citizens the choice of using different instalment plans for paying property taxes. “My team and I thought of the most important priorities for Laval citizens in our eyes and we believe these objectives can be reached within the first 80 days,” explained Bordeleau.
The list of objectives also includes ensuring proper snow removal to the satisfaction of citizens, implementing a moratory on all construction in the city’s wooded areas, forest, and wetlands,   and immediately putting in place assistance programs for citizens and local sports and activities facilities bv using 3% of property taxes, freeing up approximately $13 million annually according to the PSC de Laval. “About 22% of Laval citizens have financial trouble, that’s about 80,000 people. That’s an enormous amount. We need to help them out,” stated Bordeleau. “The citizens need a change of administration. They need somebody who will listen to them, a group of citizens with heart, who are not coming there with false reasons. The real reason is we are coming to help them out.”

Mayoral race
Born in Laval-des-Rapides, 51 year old Bordeleau refers to his team as the credible alternative to the other mayoral candidates also running in the upcoming election. “I’ve been involved in politics for over 12 years and since January 2006, I’ve been on the road in Laval. To present yourself as mayor of Laval, that size of city, it’s not a decision you make weeks or months prior to the election like some other candidates,” explained Bordeleau.
The PSC de Laval wants to re-vamp the Laval municipal council by implementing 14 full-time city councillors instead of the current 21 part-time structure. “We want to put an office in every sector where citizens can go and speak to their representative and have a transparent administration,” stated Bordeleau. “For over 12 years, I’ve studied the files, listened to people and their needs, and we are ready. It’s time to put Mr. Vaillancourt in retirement and we bring in some fresh blood. That’s what we are offering to the citizens of Laval.”
The PSC Laval team and the districts they are running in include: Vladimir Létang in Saint-Francois, Thérèse Duarte in Marigot, Anne Renaud Deschênes in Concorde/Bois-de-Boulogne, José Onofre in Renaud, Danielle Soucy in Vimont, Tanya Onofre in Saint-Bruno, Eve Thibault in Auteuil, Lucile Martin Bordeleau in Laval-des-Rapides, Patricia Sepulveda in Souvenir/Labelle, Noémia Onofre DeLima in Chomedey, Anite DeLima in Sainte-Dorothée, Rezak Belaid in Laval-les-Îles, Kevin Christo Lefebvre in Marc-Aurel-Fortin, and Sophie Hébert in Fabreville.
