Laval's 36th blood collection drive will take place Friday September 11th, from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Centre Sportif Bois-de-Boulogne located at 955 Bois-de-Boulogne avenue (from Saint-Martin blvd, near Moe’s Restaurant).
Recognized as the largest blood collection drive in Canada, it has recorded 45 987 blood donations since its inception. This year's goal is set at 1,000 donations and the honorary chairman is actor, comedian, and lecturer Marcel Leboeuf. The president of the organizing commitee is Vimont municipal councillor, Norman Girard. They, along with honorary patrons Courier Laval editor Claude Labelle and Bank of Montreal vice-president (Northwest Laval region) Mario Rigante, invite all citizens and Laval companies to help achieve the goal and make a difference for someone in need. Did you know that a single donor can save up to four lives? Everyday hundreds of Quebecers receive blood transfusions.
Donor qualification
Héma-Québec must qualify all individuals who come to the collection. The qualification criteria are reviewed and evaluated regularly. They are subject to change. Visit Héma-Québec to learn more: www.hema-quebec.qc.ca.
Note that the center has an air conditioning system and free outdoor parking. Childcare and transportation services are also offered free to donors. The event is supported by the following partners: Rythme FM, Courrier Laval, BMO Financial Group, Métro Dépatie, Domino's Pizza and Laval McDonald's restaurants. There will also be several information booths and many surprises.
Until then, visit the City of Laval website at http://www.ville.laval.qc.ca to view the testimony of Mr. Robert Remington, a blood donation recipient, which will certainly convince you to offer an hour of your time to donate. Don't forget to mark September 11th on your calendar.
