The 850 property owners in Laval’s Val-des-Brises sector are sure to welcome an announcement by the city that an extension of Robert Bourassa Boulevard will allow them to start using this route starting this fall.
Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt and Madeleine Sollazzo, the city councillor for the district, both confirm that $2 million in work is underway to complete the link.
Foundations for the street and underground sewer work will be done this summer. Once this first phase of work is completed, traffic will be allowed (probably in September) on the one-kilometre section, starting from the traffic circle at des Aristocrates and des Gouverneurs avenues.
Public works officials say that traffic passing over the unpaved boulevard will naturally compact the foundation. Then in the summer of 2012, the contractors will be returning to do the paving, and install the sidewalks and lighting. Additional information is available by calling Laval’s public works information line at 3-1-1.
