MNA Ouellette announces $14 million in upgrades to health facilities

The money will serve, in particular, to cover the cost of minor functional renovations, elsewhere than in the housing and long-term-care facilities

Chomedey Liberal MNA Guy Ouellette has announced that three health-care institutions in Laval will receive a total of $14,354,224 in funding from Quebec this year to maintain and renovate their capital assets as well as to replace or refurbish their furniture and equipment.

The funding break down as follows:
Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital $1,304,049
Résidence Riviera Inc. $205,261
Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Laval $12,844,914

Ouellette’s announcement followed on one made in September by the Minister of Health and Social Services Dr. Yves Bolduc. The money will serve, in particular, to cover the cost of minor functional renovations, elsewhere than in the housing and long-term-care facilities, and to maintain assets for the buildings’ inventory, equipment, and furnishings.

“These investments in the health and social services system demonstrate the government’s determination to support both the economy, through a vigorous investment policy, and the activities of the health-care institutions across Québec,” Ouellette said in a statement.
“Moreover,” he continued, “the amounts invested will enable professionals to work in an environment that is more functional, pleasant, and stimulating as well as offer patients enhanced care settings that better meet their needs.”

The funding comes under the Quebec Infrastructure Plan, which aims primarily at ensuring the sustainability of public installations and infrastructure across the province. The funding is in addition to possible future investments slated for service development, including new construction, building expansions, or new medical equipment.
