Depressed man missing

Police are trying to locate Giovanni Arcuri, a 32-year-old resident of Vimont, who has been missing since Dec. 1 when he was last seen attending a family get-together. Arcuri’s wife didn’t report him missing until Dec. 27.

“It’s important to note in this that they were having marital problems,” said DiGenova. Arcuri was known in the past to leave his family for days at a time, although he always returned. “It’s just that in this case here he left without taking any of his identification with him. He also had a vehicle which was left at home, and the family confirms to us that in the last few weeks he seemed depressed and he was taking medication for that.”
Earlier this week on Thursday, the woods behind the Laval Police’s main station at 3225 Saint-Martin Blvd. were being scoured by patrol officers and detectives in a search of traces that might indicate Arcuri entered that isolated area and took his own life. DiGenova acknowledged that some media reports attempted to suggest Arcuri’s disappearance may be linked to organized crime activity.

“That doesn’t seem to be the case, at least that’s what our detectives tell us,” he said. Arcuri is apparently also the family name of a well-known Montreal area mafia figure. Apart from that, there appears to be no other connection. DiGenova said, “Right now we’re treating it as a person who’s depressed and disappeared
